Doing the Impossible

When life is like a mountain

Have you ever felt like you were being asked to do something impossible? Like even making it through to the next day was impossible? Sometimes it gets that way; life feels impossible to do and being you starts to feel impossible. There are days like that and almost everyone goes through them.

It’s been a while since I’ve done my sunday post. First I was trying to build up my business so this blog got neglected and then it got hacked and I lost all my other sunday posts. Keeping this blog began to feel impossible but well, here I am.

Some days life feels like a holiday on a 5 star cruise ship, sipping some Dom with a stylish Padron dangling at the end of one hand…but more often than not, life is not like that. Life can often get you to the point where all you want to do is raise your hands and give up.

I heard an analogy this morning that got me thinking. Life’s difficulties are nothing but speed bumps along the way; they slow you down. When you are driving and you get to a speed bump, do you come to a stop, come out of your car and give up on your journey? No. You slow down quite alright, get over the bump and keep moving.

And that’s what I would like to leave you with today. When going through each day seems like it is the impossible, don’t give up. Slow down and take stock; retrace your steps if you have to but get back on your journey.

How do You Keep Charged?

Oct 15 2011 Published by under encouragement, motivation

staying charged upThere are days when you wake up feeling like a thunder bolt; fully charged and ready to go. Yet there are other days when you go about feeling like you need charging up. That is where motivation comes in.

What do you do to get motivated when you’re down? There are those who require the encouragement that comes from a pat on the shoulder while there are some who can motivate themselves. A little bit of each is necessary.

External motivation is great. It helps you know that you are not alone and it is a source of external fuel. The problem with that is that people will not always be there to pat you on the shoulder. So what do you do when you are all on your own and you need a boost? Internal motivation kicks in.

You need to be able to motivate yourself. If you get motivation from others that’s fine. But self motivation is like going through life with your own personal portable phone batteries.

You don’t need to wait until you are down before you motivate yourself. Listen to upbeat music with lyrics that lift your spirits, listen to inspiring talks, read about people who inspire you. When you need charging up it is these little motivational steps you take that help to keep you buoyed up. There are so many methods of self motivation, which do you use?
