Several weeks after having my baby I am in need of a long vacation. I keep gaining new respect for single moms everyday; I have no idea how they cope with raising children and holding down jobs at the same time without hitting the road. Sometimes I feel like I should buy a motorhome, take out a motorhome insurance and hit the road. Yet here I am. What is it that makes a mother stay year after year and raise her children?
There is something special about being a mum. It takes strength, it takes determination and it takes sheer guts. It is not something that falls upon a woman automatically. It is easy to think that all a woman has to do is have a baby to become a mum… to some expect, maybe. The motherly feelings might be there but it is going to take much more than feelings to keep at it each and every day.
I love being a mum, most days. And I love being a work at home mum. I miss going out to work sometimes but not enough to do something about it. I still need a holiday though and just as soon as I can, I will do something about it.
